Role Purpose

In this role you will be responsible for leading the communications team to develop strategic messaging for the Solar MAP including all employee communications, executive communications, investor relations and deliver key business objectives by supporting all product marketing related activities, media and public relations across both solar and semiconductor markets.  In addition, the role will coordinate closely with Corning Executive Communications (office of CEO and COO) and Solar GA team to support of business initiatives. 

Deliverables

  • Lead the annual planning process to develop and implement the marketing communications strategy, messaging and program of communications activities including public relations, media relations, tradeshows and customer outreach activities. 
  • Develop and coordinate with respective business managers (semi, poly, wafer, module) product communications activities including product communications plans, related technical and commercial collateral materials, press releases, product presentations, media activities, product webpages, live product demonstrations, technical presentations and related tradeshow/conference exposures, and any social media content.  
  • Lead all promotion activities for new product launches including naming, promotion, media interviews, launch events, article placement, influencer interviews and branding campaigns.
  • Develop and implement proactive public relation, media relations and community engagement plans across the business locations.  Establish media contacts and develop relationships to help broaden and deepen communication channels. 
  • Develop and execute the integrated messaging for the new Solar MAP in support of business objectives through employee townhalls and communications meeting across business locations (MI, AZ) and products (semi, poly, wafer module).
  • Lead quarterly earning’s communications process and activity for Solar in close to collaboration with finance and Corporate IR teams.
  • Develop executive communications for internal communications including CMG, Board of Director Meetings and SLT, and external communication opportunities.  Coordinate with all three business (poly, wafer, module) to integrate core messaging, financial results and growth opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain crisis management and response plan.  

 

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate across the Solar business managers and Corporate Communications to create an integrate communications strategy and ensure strong alignment of messaging and position.
  • Lead tradeshow activities including overall project management, speaking engagements, customer engagement and media events,
  • Collaborate with Corporate Communications teams to ensure alignment of positions and response plans; Develop messaging documents, Q&A, stand by statements and other materials as needed. 
  • Own and manage digital marketing platforms, develop content and strategies in support of the business objectives.
  • Monitor and react to industry issues that impact Solar and provide the organization with the capabilities and platform to assert its leadership position with the media, customers, influencers and other stakeholders. 
  • Develop and write news releases, feature articles in support of PR and media efforts. 
  • Supervise and develop a team of communications professional, with an emphasis on skill-building that develops talent and creates future leaders.
  • Develop communication plans for internal messaging and employee activities in support of initiatives led by Business Managers, MAP Human Resources and Solar MAP GM.
  • Create communications calendar and engagement plan to build one Solar team across all 4,000 employees in MI, AZ and remote locations. 
  • Develop internal webpage and employee communications to create pride of association as we expanding existing $1B business into a $2.5B market access platform.
  • Bring to life Solar GM vision, growth goals and create inspirational communication tools including digital, print and video.
  • Lead Investor Day activities for Solar business and collaborate with Corporate IR to align on key messaging, including speech writing, product demos and overall event logistics.
  • Write and develop executive communication for corporate events including Corning Management Group (CMG), Board of Directors (BOD), and Senior Leadership Team (SLT).
  • Coordinate with marketing communications team to develop external cadence for Solar GM to engage local community leaders, government officials and local events to promote the Solar MAP and the benefit of our business operations in local markets.  
  • Develop plan for external speaking engagements and content creation to support marcomm objectives for Solar GM to establish Corning as the preeminent c-Si manufacturing in the US.  

Metrics

  • Messaging (consistency of messaging regarding product offerings as relayed within and outside the division) and social sentiment. 
  • Issues management (actual speed at which messages are disseminated to address crisis situations as compared to desired speed).
  • Expense management (budget spent as 100% of plan).
  • Project management (completion of key milestones as compared to time, quality, and cost targets).

  • Graduate-level education in a related field.
  • Global experience.

The range for this position is $175,348.00 - $241,104.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
