Scope of Role

Provide technical and operational support to the Crucible Melting, Ceramics and Batching team within Engineering, Materials and Processing at Sullivan Park.  This role involves planning and executing experiments, analyzing process data, collaborating with internal customers, and supporting equipment troubleshooting and maintenance.  The role will contribute to process documentation, training, and continuous improvement initiatives, while also engaging in cross-functional activities and representing the team during site tours and events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work in a flexible, team-based environment.
  • Collaborate with internal customers to gather requests, understand experimental requirements, communicate to internal team to execute work. 
  • Collect and analyze process data, package and present conclusions from experiments. 
  • Perform methodical problem-solving techniques, identify root cause and implement corrective actions.
  • Assist in troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of furnaces and supporting equipment.
  • Document processes and train operators and peers on defined processes.
  • Participate in process activities outside Crucible Melting, Ceramics and Batching as needed. 
  • Work independently or as part of a team to achieve department goals. 
  • Lead tours of the area in coordination with SP Events team.

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Materials, or Ceramic Engineering, or 5–10 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to lead small-scale process development or improvement projects.
  • Skilled in data analysis to support decision-making and process optimization.
  • Adaptable and flexible in dynamic, cross-functional environments.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • Process engineering skills such as KT, SPC, Six Sigma, MEE.
  • Experience with material and equipment suppliers.
  • Experience calculating batch sheets for ceramics and glasses.
  • Understanding of Procurement system, including Buy Smart Requisition training.
  • Inventory management experience.

The range for this position is $65,294.00 - $89,780.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
