Job Title: Raw Material Engineer Reference Number: Scope of Position: This position is part of Corning’s Environmental Technologies Division Engineering group located at the Erwin Plant and involves Raw Materials used in both Automotive and Diesel products. The primary focus is upon supply assurance and improving Celcor products through supplier management, raw material property improvement, second source identification & implementation. Day to Day Responsibilities: • Understanding of raw materials and their impact on Celcor processes & product attributes • Technical raw material supplier management • Supplier Quality System audits • Manufacturing troubleshooting support • Experimentation • Technical report writing and presentations • Specific projects & material focus TBD at a later date. Role Within Group: The successful candidate (IDV) will be joining a team of 10 engineers/technicians focused upon Raw Materials Engineering. Travel Requirements: ~ 15% (some international) Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time: 8-5pm M-F Required Education and Experience: • BS or MS in Material Science, Ceramic or Chemical Engineering or related • Minimum 3 - 5 years' experience in Process Engineering or Manufacturing Desired Skills: • Strong understanding of raw materials and raw material characterization methodologies • Technical knowledge of ceramics • Data analysis – use of statistics • Project management skill set • Experimental design • Green belt or higher 6 sigma Soft Skills: • Customer focused – open & approachable • Self motivated • Results oriented- strong drive to complete assignments • Team player • Attention to detail and follow through • Strong communication skills – written & verbal • Leadership
