  • Work with engineering staff and fellow technicians to complete refractory, glass and ceramic testing in a lab environment to support materials and manufacturing development
  • Support lab safety programs to provide a safe working environment
  • Prepare glass batch and refractory samples for testing and analysis
  • Help design, conduct and solve high temperature experiments
  • Collect experimental data, maintain organized records, and report results to internal customers or engineers
  • Hands-on support to repair and maintain high temperature furnaces, process machinery, and laboratory equipment
  • Track lab supplies and consumables through an inventory system



  • We estimate domestic travel at 5% - 10%, depending upon specific project assignment.



  • AAS in Technical degree
  • 3+ years of experience in laboratory environment



  • Work independently and balance multiple concurrent tasks
  • Equipment / mechanical aptitude with ability to troubleshoot and characterize process issues
  • Capable of monitoring and executing designed experiments
  • Ability to work with samples at high temperatures for short periods of time
  • Creative / innovative problem solving



  • Interacts well with technicians, engineers, customers and management
  • Effectively communicates results, directions, and experimental details
  • Technically curious and self-motivated
  • Machine operation and CAD drafting
  • Data analysis and interpretation
