Scope of Position:

The corporate marketing communications organization at Corning Incorporated is focused on protecting and strengthening Corning’s brand and reputation globally. The organization is committed to delivering world-class communications, which are continually advanced through the sharing of best practices, the use of benchmarking and analytics, and ongoing professional development.

Corning’s global marketing communications team is looking for talented design, communications, marketing, and journalism students to join the organization as interns for the summer of 2023. As a member of the communications organization, the media relations intern will support Corning’s best-in-class integrated media relations program, in close collaboration with other Corporate Communications functions such as social media, brand and marketing, content, and analytics.


The intern will have the opportunity to:

  • Work cross-functionally to support the development and execution of targeted integrated communications and media relations programs
  • Identify and develop content and engagement opportunities to advance the objectives of key programs and businesses
  • Contribute to proactive story development and placement for the advancement of the company’s reputation building and business priorities
  • Stays abreast of trends and changes to the media landscape and identify opportunities and recommendations as a result.
  • Identify, develop, and facilitate media engagements (interviews, events, request follow up, etc.) • Identify key influencers and media outlets; shape story opportunities
  • Develop briefing documents, strategic narratives, soundbites, and standby statements Support integrated communications efforts and coordination for Corning’s external communications channels and strategies


Travel Requirements:

  • Less than 10% Hours of work


Work schedule/flex-time:

  • June 2023 – August 2023
  • Monday – Friday, standard business hours.


Required Education:

  • The candidate is required to be pursuing a bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Advertising (or similar field) going into their senior or junior year. Candidates may also be enrolled in a master’s program to which they will return in the Fall.
