Scope of Position:

  • Functional supervision of a group 5-7 people o Performance processes: PDR, MBO, career planning, ASR, coaching
    • Maintain contact with customers for workload planning and performance feedback
    • Create and implement career development plans to meet personal and organizational goals
  • Engage/lead projects that include developing and applying fundamentals to improve process capability in R, D or E projects across Corning businesses.

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain communication with the glass community to appropriately place individuals in projects and anticipate workload changes
  • Provide technical leadership and/or project management for glass melting and/or forming projects with worldwide impact. This could involve projects such as:
    • Development and transfer of new products to manufacturing
    • Development and transfer of technology (process/equipment) to improve manufacturing capability
    • Manufacturing process improvement

 

Travel Requirements:

  • Estimate travel at 30% depending upon specific project assignment. Domestic and International.

 

Required Education and Years of Experience:

  • M.S. – Ph.D. in Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or Mat’s Sci Eng
  • 10+ years’ experience in material processing

 

Required Skills:

  • Strong academic background, able to apply scientific and engineering principles to solve problems.

 

Desired Skills:

  • Development, Engineering or Manufacturing experience in the glass industry.
  • Strong understanding of glass processes
  • Working knowledge of experimental design, statistics, and application of tools for process improvement, control and management.
