  • The Performance Excellence Global Operations Engineer (PEOE) creates and promotes a consistent culture of Quality throughout a selected Market Access Platform (MAP), Functional Staff Groups or Region of the World. The purpose of the PEOE is to lead the execution of critical shared objectives and guide quality methodologies that enable success (right the first time). The PEOE helps establish appropriate shared objectives that the business deems fundamental to success and has personal ownership in leading the shared objectives. PEOE shares accountability for overall MAP/Function/Region performance and continuous improvement within the scope of the shared objectives.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute shared objectives and initiatives that are closely aligned with Business objectives and corporate expectations
  • Understand business critical path strategies, analyze needs from a quality perspective, and advocate for risk mitigations to ensure business success.
  • Understand the organization to establish needed sponsors and funding
  • Measure performance against Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) that are agreed to by the assigned organization to include stretch goals. Embrace ownership of results
  • Participate in the development of MAP/Function/Region goals and objectives with a global view considering quality within manufacturing, supplier, contract manufacturing as well as customer-defined quality.
  • Identify the specific skills and talent needed to achieve the business objective
  • Escalate the elimination roadblocks to success in a timely manner
  • Champion the use of the right methodologies for the right problems at the right time
  • Use continuous improvement methodologies to target problem resolution, such as but not limited to, DMAIC, Product Quality Architecture, Lean, Manufacturing Engineering Excellence, Error proofing, and Failure Mode & Effects Analysis
  • Provide coaching and/or facilitation of methods and tools or establishment of performance metrics.
  • Identify leading practices and share with the Performance Excellence Operations group
  • Build effective networks for Performance Excellence Operations including Engineering, Manufacturing, Commercial, Division Quality, Global Supply Management, and Regulatory Affairs Competencies:

    • DMAIC, DESGN, Product Quality Architecture, Lean, Manufacturing Engineering Excellence, Manufacturing Innovation Excellence, Error proofing, Failure Mode & Effects Analysis, etc.
    • Able to articulate relationship of Cost and Quality



  • Required: BS in Engineering
  • Desired: Masters (MBA, Engineering, Supply Chain)



  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing organization in an industry Corning Incorporated supplies
  • Leadership Experience in Quality, Manufacturing, and/or Staff roles
  • Desired: Multi-division/Multi-industry experience and/or Diverse staff group experience



  • 25% on average, occasionally up to 50%
