Scope of Position (i.e. projects involved with and role within group):

Provide operational leadership, expertise and practical support in an RD&E setting. In this position you will lead the activities to support the objectives of the Materials Management group. Manage policies, standards and processes, to strive for continuous improvement and sustainable performance. The work involves areas of local, federal, corporate regulations and compliance. The role includes interfacing with GES, Legal, WPS, and external regulators. Primary areas include chemical inventory management, regulatory compliance for Dangerous Goods shipping, Hazard communication (SDS/GHS management & authoring and labeling) and research & sheet glass inventory management (MMT). Developing and implementing plans to provide a safe work environment and maximize the efficiency and output of operations. Role involves working in a matrix organization structure with site stakeholders/businesses, peers, to drive for solutions in cooperation with SH&E, engineering and technology resources.

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

• Supervision of team members; manage activities to ensure balanced workload, back up support and project support. Provides challenging assignments.

• Support daily screening of shipments out of SP and classification/ preparation of hazardous materials (Dangerous goods) - Domestic/International/Dock to Dock Shipments

• Program Leader, maintain and ensure accurate inventory in MMT and support glass sample transition to Vertical Lift Machines

• Program Leader, Chemical safety & hazard communication program (GHS) and lead of chemical authorization process

• Identifies projects and provides leadership to improve program efficiency, safety and cost reduction.

• Technical Leader for Chemical Inventory management; including receiving, chemical quarantine, chemical sharing and regulatory reporting

• Provides on-going communications as requested for other staff and department groups

• Monthly communications at the Safety Coordinator Meeting

• Annual Community of Practice for Chemical Inventory and DOT/GHS

• Tracks metrics, reports progress to goals with team and management on a regular frequency

 

Travel Requirements: • < 5% domestic and international.

 

 

 

Education and Experience (minimum required for consideration) Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, minor in chemistry preferred

 

Required Years and Area of Experience: 7 or more years’ experience in engineering/science or related field
