Scope of Position:

This position is based out of Corning, NY under “Optical Fiber” business in COC division. The role entails ownership of two legal entities and provides support to Fiber’s Commercial team and other business staff for day to day operations. The position also involves close interaction with our plant controllers around the world for division’s sales reconciliation and managing closing related processes. The role requires someone with strong accounting knowledge, understanding of financial statements/processes and internal controls. The role also requires strong business partnership skills and an ability to develop collaborative engagement across the finance function.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Owns and independently manage/lead financial closing process for two operating units including preparation/approval of journal entries and monthly, quarterly & year-end reporting to Corporate.
  • Adherence to internal finance controls including data and reporting standards and compliance procedures i.e. Sarbanes Oxley regulations and internal/external audits.
  • Reconcile worldwide fiber sales in ledger with FAR and MSBI and work with Fiber IT Support to resolve issues related to the process. Maintain MSBI as the sub ledger for the business and make corrections as needed.
  • Manage and own volume and sales data in Khalix metrics for actuals and commercial short term forecast and provide analysis and insights.
  • Interact with Fiber’s commercial team to maintain and update Sales Rebates on a monthly basis.
  • Preparation/approval of Blackline account reconciliations and tasks.
  • Resolving Inter-Company Out of Balance issues, ad-hoc reports and support for fiber locations.
  • Manage SG&A and D&E spend for the business including work related to monthly reporting, budgeting and 5 year plans. Conduct periodic reviews with department managers, explain variances and provide roll up versions for BlackBook and GreenBook processes.
  • Liaison with Commercial team and Treasury to manage credit limits, open receivables and payment related issues for our customers.
  • Collaborate with ACR/Technical Accounting group for submission of Revenue Recognition Templates and ad-hoc requests to seek guidance and adherence to corporate policies.
  • Lead a Financial Analyst by providing direction, oversight, coaching and development opportunities.
  • Provide support and collaborate with Fiber Plant Controllers including in-sights to sales, rebate tracking, LCM analysis and open account receivables.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s in accounting or Finance required; Master’s in accounting or MBA preferred.
  • CPA or equivalent strongly preferred
  • Required minimum 5-7 Years of work experience.
