Role Purpose: This role provides support to the human resources manager, Legal and Administration to ensure that the departments have the right number and type of talent to execute strategy and achieve overall goals and objectives.  In addition, this role will:

  • Ensure the department establishes and maintains a positive work environment and operates consistently with Corning Values: specifically, the Individual with a focus on the Moments that Matter Campaign.
  • Assists in achieving or beating budgetary objectives in support of top quartile performance objectives while maintaining appropriate level of HR service delivery.
  • Assists in successful implementation of global HR business processes within the department.
  • Ensures department compliance with HR-related legal and regulatory guidelines.
  • Lead Annual HR processes such as PD&R, ASR, LTI, etc.
  • Participate on Climate Survey and D&I Steering Teams.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Identifies and prioritizes current and future talent requirements of the clients which could affect achievement of department operational objectives.
  • Partners with HR Manager and leadership to identify and implement a compelling employee value proposition that enables them to attract and retain the number and type of required employees to meet business needs.
  • Effectively deploys talent acquisition process for the department with a focus on Diversity and Inclusion
  • Effectively deploys performance management and rewards processes/practices within the departments to drive required levels of accountability for desired performance results and ensures retention of key talent.
  • Manages and mitigates employee issues by ensuring supervisors and leadership are creating an open forum for discussion and resolution of issues.
  • Coaches and counsels managers and supervisor in development and demonstration of leadership and management practices required to establish and maintain a positive work environment.
  • Resolves employee relations issues in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Takes ownership for specific HR initiatives that support the effective operations of the organization by developing and/or delivering HR programs (e.g., supervisory training, employee training, communications, talent review processes, etc.).
  • Identifies employee value proposition issues affecting turnover and works with HR Manager to identify actions for improvement.
  • Implements appropriate risk management policies and procedures to ensure compliance with safety requirements and local, state, and federal employment laws.

Travel Requirements: 10% - 20 % Primarily Domestic


  • Successful track record of performance in HR Specialist, Generalist or Center of Excellence (COE) role
  • Successful track record in the deployment of global HR business processes or programs
  • Knowledge of employment laws and policies
  • At least 2 –4 years of HR experience (generalist/specialist)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or Organization Development, labor relations or equivalent;
  • Master’s degree in related area and/or HR certifications– a plus
