Signals Operations, a part of CGS Investigations, leads the discovery and integration of information (intelligence) in order to identify, analyze, and resolve risk to the People, Information and Operations of Corning Incorporated. We work closely with the larger investigations team to identify and support cases. The Signals Operations Technician is responsible for maintaining and developing new reporting capability using the tools and data available to Signals Operations. They are also responsible for development of a dynamic PowerBI dashboard which uses an API to pull system data for near real-time viewing by the team’s analysts. Coding, writing database queries, and building workflows in SharePoint all are necessary work functions in the role. The team is building best practices, new processes, and developing creative approaches to accomplish our mission. Therefore, the candidate must be both creative and rigorous in problem solving, and open to adapting to new requirements from our internal customers. Daily Responsibilities include:

• Daily support and generation of system reports, metrics, troubleshooting, and improvements • Rigorous, accurate, complete, and contextualized reporting from multiple sources based on Corning’s values, the department’s mission, our customer’s needs, and alignment to our internal partners in Investigations

• Continuous development of data integration / correlation tool

• Configuration and calibration of software tools to better meet our objectives and those of our customers using logical thinking and a careful, Quality-minded approach

• Collaborate with Information Security / IT for system changes, versioning, and general support • Author, review, and adapt operational documentation to support consistency and governance • Contribute to case reviews and continuously calibrate activity according to investigative needs


Educational Requirements: Relevant Bachelor’s with 2+ years’ experience


Required skills / qualifications:

• Strict adherence to the Values of Integrity and the Individual

• Precise, clear, complete, and contextualized report writing

• Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences

• Comfort working in a small, high-performance team environment

• Qualified to work with ITAR, or otherwise federally regulated materials

• Comfort with the detailed administration and configuration of complex software tools

• Ability to seek out and align to rigorous process expectations

• A strong, independently motivated work ethic

• When clear expectations are not available, be flexible and adaptable enough to use foundational judgement: The Values, the mission, and organizational practice

• A proficient understanding of the MS stack, esp. Excel and PowerBI

• A functional understanding of SQL queries and SQL server reporting services

• A functional understanding and proficiency in coding, esp. in Python

• A functional understanding of SharePoint workflows

 • A functional proficiency in, and careful, rigorous approach to data analysis


Desired skills:

• Curiosity and a drive/capability to improve

• An understanding of Corning’s business and assets

• Advanced technical skill sets / background, especially in data science, use of APIs, Visual Studio Editor

• Using statistics for trending and anomaly detection

• Understanding and ability to implement principles of Quality and continuous improvement
