Scope of Position: Develops and implements the division’s market strategy and business process to ensure the achievement of the division’s revenue, profit, and share goals.


Day to Day Responsibilities:

The role will primarily be assignment driven. Assignments are delivered in objective-oriented terms, with duration of 2-9 months each.


Example assignment types:

  • Develop medium to long-term market, technology, supply chain, and competitor environment assessment and recommendations.
  • Develop a market view of the division’s products and services based on a detailed understanding of industry, customer, and competitor trends, demands, developments, and predictions.
  • Define target markets and channels strategies for the division’s products and technology and segments customers within the target markets based on their needs and potential value to Corning.
  • Work with Product Line Management in developing solutions-based value propositions for the division’s products and services.
  • Provide division leadership with critical market or customer information to make product development and portfolio decisions.
  • Improve and deploy critical business processes
  • Work with pricing to optimize pricing levels to ensure value received for the division’s products and technology.
  • Work with Product Engineering, Manufacturing, and Product Line Management on recommendations to division leadership for new products/special requests based on manufacturing feasibility, pricing requirements, profitability, and market implications of the requests.
  • Work with Sales and Product Line Management to define commercialization strategies for new product introductions.
  • Evaluation and recommendation of adjacency opportunities and resourcing.
  • M&A activities.


Travel Requirements:

  • 25%, including international.


Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:

  • Typical 40 hours per week, mainly during normal business hours


Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree – Technical (Engineering or Science Major preferred)
  • MBA or equivalent degree or experience (e.g. strategic planning, forecasting, market analysis) strongly preferred


Required Years and Area of Experience:

  • Three years' minimum industry experience (automotive industry desired) in Development, Engineering, Product Line Management, Forecasting, Sales.


Required Skills:

  • Problem Solving Skills (Ability to tackle challenging problems in a structured way)
  • Analytical and Quantitative Skills (Proficiency with sophisticated modeling with Excel and other quantitative analytical tools)
  • Interpersonal Savvy (Ability to work with people in multiple functions across cultures/time zones)

  • Presentation Skills (Written and Oral)


Desired Skills:

  • Industry Experience – Automotive and/or Heavy-Duty OEM or supply chain
  • Customer Knowledge
  • Work experience within at least two out of the four areas: Manufacturing, Development, Engineering, Product Line Management, Forecasting, Sales.
  • Experience planning and executing strategies.
  • Work experience in a role requiring extensive financial analysis and data interpretation.
