We are looking for an experienced, proactive scientist to join the Emerging Innovations Group and be a key part of a team working on new, cutting edge technologies for self-sanitizing surfaces using glass and glass ceramic materials.  The candidate will have the following responsibilities


  • Deliver on product development objectives leveraging both experimental and modeling approaches; propose objectives and resources to deliver and gain approval from the technology development lead
  • Design experiments, manage day-to-day planning, have a strong presence in the lab to gain a deep, first-hand understanding of the product
  • Drive effective documentation of experiment plans, internal reports, application notes, operating procedures, intellectual property, and decision analyses  
  • Own the product capability definition, performance requirements, and lead new specification development
  • Develop a mechanistic understanding of product performance and build an FMEA based on this understanding
  • Participate in targeted customer engagements and leverage technical consultants or internal experts to gather inputs and gain understanding of customer needs
  • Drive resolution of complex technical issues encountered by customer
  • Translate customer needs (current and future based on new application targets) into performance requirements, technical targets, metrology requirements, and/or specifications.
  • Collaborate on the product roadmap and translate this roadmap into product development objectives
  • Participate in establishing product value proposition by articulating and measuring product technical advantages
  • Participate in IP building and filing


Travel Requirements

10-15% domestic and international travel, including Asia.


Education and Experience (minimum required for consideration)

Ph.D. in materials science or chemistry with at least 3-5 years of experience in several technical areas: coordination chemistry, glass chemistry, inorganic solution chemistry, molecular modeling, color physics, reliability, powder characterization.
