Purpose of the Position:

  • Full Stack Engineering Software Development and Leadership
  • Develop high-quality software systems for measurement, inspection, gauging, data collection, machine learning and reporting systems in support of a variety of Corning divisions
  • Design and implement high quality data storage, backend processing, necessary middleware, and frontend GUI applications in both desktop and web environments

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Design develop and debug high-quality software systems supporting early stage and mature, high-volume manufacturing activities 
  • Interface sensors, motion, lighting, cameras and implement advanced logic operating on the data from them
  • Visualize trends using various charting statistical techniques
  • Resolve problems with software and manage improvements and enhancements
  • Champion structured Software Development practices to ensure fast and efficient project completion
  • When required, provide project level direction to other development resources
  • Demonstrate strong technical curiosity, strong leadership skills and the ability to train others

 

Travel Requirements:  0-25% Domestic and International, depending upon specific project assignments

 

Required Education and Years of Experience:

  • Bachelor’s required in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical or Electronic engineering or a closely related field
  • Master’s strongly preferred  in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical or Electronic engineering or a closely related field
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in development and leadership in highly technical, multi-discipline engineering team

 

Required Skills:

  • Object Oriented software analysis and design
  • C#, VB.Net, Python, C++, Java, Matlab, Web Services, Micro Services
  • Familiarity with Version Control, e.g.: Git/GitLab/SubVersion/Visual SourceSafe
  • Solid understanding of SDLC processes & tools
  • Strong problem-solving, test and QA skills
  • Significant experience and interest in relational databases and data analysis

 

Desired Skills:

  • Experience in design, development, and maintenance of enterprise applications
  • Database Tuning in Oracle, SQL Server, or PostGreSQL environments
  • Technical experience with inter-process communications tools and techniques
  • Basic understanding of control systems
  • Understanding of Containerization/Virtualization, e.g. Docker/Kubernetes
