Data Manager

 

Purpose of Position

• Define, lead projects and drive improvements to make visible the right actionable data and information that improves Corning business supply chain performance including cash, COM and efficiency.

 

Day to Day Responsibilities: (role within group / projects within group)

• Create and maintain the strategy and vision for data that will align with and support the supply chain organization’s goals

• Defines, steers and leads innovative digital or data initiatives (digitalization) that support desired business outcomes.

• Develops, influences & leads innovative strategic initiatives to improve supply chain performance from better data visibility, structure and connectivity.

• Leads and facilitates cross functional teams and/or projects to accomplish objectives. Works with internal and external stakeholders to define use cases, critical data needed to enable business value and optimal data flow solutions to enable.

• Supports the process for data conversion to S4 by educating and guiding the deploying businesses • Ensure solutions support compliance to Corporate policies and procedures.

• Identifies and manages strategic service providers & industry experts

• Facilitates effective functional and enterprise data governance including documentation of data management processes and developing methodologies and standards for data collection and ensures they are met.

• Supervises a global team of direct and matrix reports to deliver data management operational support excellence across GSM

• Conducts qualitative and quantitative analyses using appropriate tools and techniques to understand data requirements, the information flow from source to user, and the value it can deliver to businesses.

• Troubleshoots for solutions in all data-related problem areas.

Required Education/Experience:

• Technical degree in Information Technology, Engineering or Analytics Master’s degree in technology or business

• Experience across multiple supply chain functions in business focused roles Leadership experience in roles that define and drive vision/strategy to improve business performance from better and more visible data

• Experience in roles that include product and/or process development

• Demonstrated collaboration skills with internal business group leaders, different cultures, different technologies (especially IT) and industry thought leaders or supply chain partners.

• A communicator, able to convert analytical findings into simple actionable messages

• Experience with different analytical or database platforms (i.e. PowerBI, Microsoft Access, Oracle, SQL, Business Objects, Tableau)

• Strong analytical, and evaluation skills

• Strong Microsoft Office Skills (Excel, PowerPoint)

 

Desired Skills {These are skills that would be nice for candidates to possess}

• Experience with SAP and deployment of master data management processes

• Experience with operating and managing cloud based (Amazon Web Services, Azure, others) solutions with consumable data connections (i.e. Application Program Interfaces)

• Experience with middleware purchasing/supply management solutions like Ariba, Tradeshift, Perfect Commerce, Emptoris, Vinimaya for procuring, sourcing, or eAuctions. fore-solutions in Procurement(Sourcing) and the use of e-auctions

• Experience with industry standards for transferring data between companies (i.e. ISO 8000/22745) • Experience with best practices for continuous improvement and innovative thinking (i.e. Six Sigma, LEAN, Design Thinking, Scrum, Sprint Design) Soft Skills {Communication/Team/Leadership}
