Position Description: Occupational Registered Nurse will provide nursing assessments, treatments and recommendations for Corning employees related to illness or injury within their Scope of Practice. General responsibilities include providing medical care by taking vital signs, assessing the patient’s injury, illness, document findings, formulate and educate on treatment plans, and perform medical interventions within the RN scope of practice. The Registered Nurse initiates and supports timely patient flow in the collection and documentation of patient medical history, appropriate medical intervention including coordination of physician medical assessment, physical examination and occupational medical treatment. Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following safety standards and procedures. Adheres to the highest standard of confidentiality and ensures that all communication and dialogue is handled in same manner. Accepts responsibility for assisting co-workers, including rotating job duties as needed or assigned. Maintains effective dialogue and communication with peers, leaders and associates. Ensures that Health Services/Safety leadership remains apprised and updated on pertinent matters requiring their attention.

General Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provides nursing assessment and recommendations to Corning Employees related to the illness or injury resulting in an initial determination of occupational versus non-occupational mechanism of injury or illness.
  • Document and Maintain records related to the treatment of Corning employees in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety Administration or similar country/national governing regulations
  • Interact with Workers’ Compensation, Safety, and the Company Physician/Provider to facilitate processing of work-related illnesses or injuries.
  • Absence management- utilize Corning’s PIIM (post injury and illness management) program by working with Corning’s carrier (work or non-work related) to enable early safe return to work via appropriate and monitored work accommodations.
  • Performs regulatory required medical surveillance as indicated by current Occupational Health and Safety Administration or similar country/national standards
  • Perform medical treatment in accordance with training and licensure
  • Completes all documentation and quality checks to reduce chance of omission or errors
  • Participate in Corning Health and Safety Programs

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3+ years Registered Nurse Experience – Occupational Health Nursing a plus; Emergency room, Intensive Care Unit or Med/Surg nursing experience preferred
  • Current CPR Certification
  • Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow
  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience with general office programs and equipment
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain medical confidentiality
  • Flexible work schedule including working occasional overtime and Holidays
  • Timely and effectively communication as demonstrated through strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional customer service and time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work closely with management team in the completion of business goals and strategies

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN | COHN-S)
  • Bachelor Degree in Nursing
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Program Suite
  • Prior Experience in fast-pace medical office, clinic or similar environment

Business/Work Environment: Fast-paced Occupational Health Clinic environment. Highly collegial, cooperative team management setting requiring close cooperation, intra-team consistency, and frequent communication.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions: Working conditions require frequent walking, standing, sitting, and light lifting throughout the shift. Occasional overtime and alternate shift-work may be required. May be required to work weekends and Holidays based on business dynamics and/or requirements.
