Corning’s summer internship experience is rich with hands-on learning. You’ll live, work, and experience the communities in which Corning operates, while building on-the-job skills. As our intern, you will be involved with Research and Development within Corning’s Scientific & Technologies (S&T) segment.


The purpose of our Intern Program is to raise the bar on talent by strengthening our pipeline for entry level roles for our immediate and future needs.


To be considered for an internship at Corning Incorporated, you must be actively enrolled at a college or university as a full-time student seeking a bachelor’s degree or higher. You must also have a current cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher (on a 0.00 to 4.00 scale).

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:

  • M-F 8am – 5pm
  • Some scheduling flexibility available
  • Duration: Summer 2021, 8-12 weeks


Scope of Position (i.e. projects involved with and role within group):

The position is a summer internship in the Pharmaceutical Technologies Division. The position involves experimental work to understand glass pharmaceutical vial attributes. The candidate will work closely with a team of scientists, engineers, and technicians to conduct laboratory experiments, set up new measurements, process and analyze data, and report out results to the larger project team.  


Day to Day Responsibilities: Work on solo and team projects which may include experimentation, problem analysis, new equipment validation, product development, etc.  


Education and Experience (minimum required for consideration)

  • Enrolled in BS or MS program related to Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or similar technical field

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experienced with MS Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
