Scope of Position:

  • Are you a power industry professional with direct experience in Industrial power systems applications? In this role, you will report directly to the manager of the Electrical Power Engineering group and focus of on electrical power system design, analysis, and commissioning.

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Scoping and execution of power engineering projects to Corning’s divisions and plants, both for new construction and existing facilities
  • Specify, review, analyze, and/or commission electrical systems and equipment and oversee equipment installation, commissioning and/or decommissioning when necessary
  • Perform and/or review power system studies, load flow/short circuit analysis and relay coordination studies for Corning’s facility-utility interconnection and internal power distribution systems.
  • Conduct failure analysis of power system equipment
  • Work in collaboratively with Corning Program Managers, equipment suppliers, facility managers, and other project partners, as well as the group director and customer organizations management teams

 

Travel Requirements:

  • Travel is both domestic and international. Frequency and duration of your travel will vary and can to be up to 50%.

 

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:

  • Normal Business hours (8 – 5, M – F): however, you will need to work the hours required to achieve your objectives including some overtime, weekend, and off-shift hours

 

Required Education:

  • MS in Electrical Engineering or Power Engineering required
  • P.E., P. Eng, or willing to obtain licensure within 5 years

 

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in the power field
  • Knowledge of medium-voltage and low-voltage power systems
  • Knowledge of electrical system design and equipment, including solid-state components
  • Experience with short circuit current, coordination, Arc Flash, and protection & control studies
  • Experience with power quality measurements, analysis, and corrective actions
  • Experience with electrical safety practices
  • Experience designing, building, and analyzing industrial control panels or industrial machinery
  • Knowledge of safety control circuits: design, verification (SISTEMA), and validation

 

Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge of power system reliability in combination with system automation, maintenance programs and operations
  • Knowledge of international standards and equipment
  • Proficiency with EasyPower, SKM, or ETAP software and MS office applications
  • Ability to multitask between projects and other activities, address and operate within ambiguous situations and conflicting objectives and constraints
  • Project Management Skills (scoping, budgeting, leadership, implementing)
