Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

This position is responsible for supporting the management of one of Corning’s optical fiber product lines.  This leader is responsible for driving product line strategies, product positioning, and delivering short and long term profitability objectives.  The position requires an understanding of the market environment, an ability to define product requirements, creating go to market strategies (channel access), and developing business cases to support growing the business.  This individual will work very closely with leaders across our sales and marketing, manufacturing, technology, R&D, and finance organizations in a team setting.  

Key Responsibilities

• Support the development of product line strategies to achieve overall business strategy
• Collaborate with technology and manufacturing to define new product requirements, product extensions and product enhancements
• Serve as project and/or commercial lead on new products, extensions, and/or enhancements
• Develop business cases to support new products, extensions, enhancements to secure division leadership support
• Develop value propositions and training commercial operations on how to effectively communicate value to customers, includes customer interaction when required
• Understand competitive environment and devise and implement strategies and tactics to counteract competitor activities
• Provide recommendations on criteria to deliver sellable product to commercial operations, coordinate with commercial operations to manage slow moving inventory, avoid write-offs, and maximize profitability  
• Lead execution of product line strategy to achieve short and long term division objectives (revenue, ASP, sales volume, market share, and NPAT)

Experiences/Education - Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related technical field; Master of Business Administration a plus
• Ability to lead cross functional teams to achieve critical business objectives
• Strong analytical skills (including financial analysis) and affinity for process rigor
• Demonstrated track record of developing and implementing strategic recommendations
• Outstanding oral and written presentation and communication skills
• Strong teamwork skills
• Ability to create alignment and action plans to support strategies
• Ability to work across regions/cultures

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • 3-5 years relevant work experience in product management, business development or similar roles
  • • Technical understanding of optical fiber and understanding of optical cable a plus

The range for this position is  $97,472.00   -  $134,024.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
