Corning’s Display Technologies segment manufactures glass substrates for active matrix liquid crystal displays (“LCDs”) that are used primarily in LCD televisions, notebook computers and flat panel desktop monitors.


Scope of Role:

  • As a process development engineer, you will provide technical and project leadership on sheet process/product development projects, provide first principles support in areas of strength of materials, thermal process, glass cutting, grinding, washing, handling, packing etc.
  • Activities primarily focus on early stage development.
  • In addition, should also be able to provide technical support to engineering, manufacturing, and commercial organizations.
  • Supervision of team members and technicians are expected.
  • The person is expected to have broad technical skills and experience as well as strong interpersonal skills to work with people of diverse cultural and technical background in worldwide locations of Corning Incorporated.
  • Ability to travel frequently overseas and domestically is required.



  • Engage in process development work including experiment planning, data analysis & reporting results.
  • Collaborate with research groups in developing fundamental understanding & evaluating new process and/or product ideas.
  • Lead the development (scale-up) and transfer of feasible technologies to engineering.
  • Lead technicians and their daily responsibilities in finishing process development labs.


Education & Experience:

  • We require a M.S/Ph.D. degree in Mechanical/Materials Engineering, Materials Science or equivalent
  • We are seeking a minimum of 3+ years experience is preferred.
  • Solid background in first principles of mechanics and materials
  • Hands-on experimental skills, including use of material property characterization instruments
  • Ability to understand technical problems, design and test hypotheses, draw logical conclusions are critical
  • Analytical skills in materials science and mechanical engineering

  • We anticipate up to 25% travel for this role. Domestic and international (up to a few weeks duration each time)
