Scope of Position:

  • Provide engineering support of glass manufacturing processes primarily at the Concord, NC Plant, and secondarily at the Wilmington, NC plant, for the MCE ArF 193nm (Luna) Lithography Product.
  • Improve manufacturing efficiencies, yields, cycle time, material utilization, uptime, through identification of opportunities on projects with root cause analysis.
  • Problem solving and process improvement using structured methodical approach and appropriate application of statistics.
  • Implement equipment upgrades and/or modifications in support of the ArF product that is compliant with standard COF production.
  • Collaborate with facility in Canton, NY regarding quality, development, and manufacturing.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Provides day-to-day problem solving support to production and development operations on new or undocumented issues.
  • Trains appropriate manufacturing personnel on new equipment and processes.
  • Uses thorough processes and technical knowledge to build detailed technical understanding for key process steps.
  • Troubleshoots material, process and equipment issues, identifies root cause and implements corrective action with support of plant personnel.
  • Documents and implements material, process and/or equipment changes.
  • Develops SME knowledge of material, process and/or equipment in focused areas of manufacturing or engineering.
  • Executes cost reduction and improvement (DMAIC) projects in line with business objectives.
  • Work with teams on solving problems and improving processes using structured problem solving techniques such as KT, DOE, and Six Sigma DMAIC.
  • Develops, writes, executes, analyzes and documents experimental plans. Interprets and documents results. Plans, communicates, and implements changes driven by results.
  • Owns modifications and updates to key documentation associated with glassmaking at the NC plants.

Required Education & Experience:

  • B.S. or M.S. in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical or Materials Science preferred)
  • We need a minimum of 2 years of Manufacturing and/or Engineering experience.
  • Solid understanding of MS Excel, including formulas and graphing functions, word and power point.
  • Statistical analysis skills in descriptive statistics, inferential statistics, non-parametric methods, regression and correlation analysis, capability analysis, control charting, and design of experiments.
  • Handle multiple priorities with the ability to prioritize and respond to the needs of project and manufacturing leaders.
  • Able to accurately interpret results and turn into actionable items.
  • Demonstrate skills showing initiative, planning, and organization.
  • Ability to work with all levels of the work force across multiple locations.
  • Technical curiosity and the aim to fully understand processes, process interdependencies, and equipment.
  • Strong communications, effectively intra-plant as well as across Division lines.

Desired Skills:

  • Six Sigma team experience.
  • Use of rational processes for problem solving, such as KT
  • Minitab statistical software experience
  • Glass or Ceramics experience a plus

Soft Skills:

  • Initiative, tenacity, and persistence in driving issues to closure, independently driven.
  • Customer service oriented for internal and external customers and project team.
  • Ability to build relationships across organizations and work in a team environment.
  • Comfortable giving presentations.
  • Good planning, organization, and communication skills. Results oriented, able to get things accomplished in a timely manner

Travel Requirements:

  • We anticipate 30% travel for this role.
