Position Overview
Corning Inc. is seeking a motivated Process Engineering Intern to join our Glass Forming Process Department within the Material Forming Technologies Directorate. This internship offers hands-on experience in advanced glass forming technologies, working alongside leading engineers and scientists in a collaborative, innovation-driven environment.
In this role, you will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to investigate key process considerations for a novel glass forming process. You will assist in the design, execution, and analysis of experiments, and you will report your findings to a broad technical audience. We are seeking a self-starting engineer looking to build their experimental and data analysis skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and construct experimental apparatuses or tools to aide in experimental methods
- Assist in experimental design, data collection, and analysis for process improvement and novel experimental methods.
- Support ongoing research and development in glass forming processes by collaborating with cross-functional teams to address technical challenges in material forming.
- Contribute to project documentation and technical reporting

Desirable Skills and Knowledge
Candidates should demonstrate interest or experience in areas relevant to our current project portfolio, including:
- Engineering principles, such as heat and momentum transport or fluid mechanics
- Analytical methods and data exploration
- Glass and ceramic property fundamentals and material interactions
- Standard statistical techniques and analytical methods
- Manufacturing processes and workflows
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled full time at an accredited college or university
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
- Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2026 (May 27-July 31, 2026) with a graduation date of December 2026 or later
- Be interested in working for Corning, Inc after graduation, if presented with a full-time job opportunity.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Experience with laboratory work or process modeling is a plus
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) a must. Other analytical skills (python, MATLAB, JMP, Minitab, etc.) a plus

The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00 biweekly. Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
