  • Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
  • Set up and operate complex milling jobs for development and experiments with minimal supervision ensuring part conforms to specifications and requirements to support development.
  • Set machine coordinates or index points per CNC documents, including cutter offset/compensations, tool heights and probes, using controller keyboard, dial indicator or digital readout, height blocks, shims and edge finders.
  • Support projects from planning and fabrication through assembly, inspection, and testing, using knowledge of machine functions, metal properties and mathematics. Design fixtures, tooling, and experimental parts to meet special engineering needs. Ability to inspect work produced, including 1st pc inspection, development of inspection techniques, and inspection documents.
  • Perform in-process and completed work inspections to verify dimensions using standard measuring instruments such as micrometers, depth gages, height gages, calipers, and coordinate measuring machines.
  • Measure, examine, and test in-process using a Renishaw probe system in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications during fabrication.
  • Work closely with process engineering to support execution and qualification of experiments on development machining systems.
  • Create/update documentation for release to production including machine specifications and operating procedures.
  • Support root cause analysis of system upsets.
  • Support continuous improvement process capability improvement.

Educational Requirements: AA or Certificate from an accredited institution or trade school, or completion of a certified Apprenticeship. Completion of a CNC programming course.

  • Program and edit 3-axis and simultaneous 4- and 5-axis toolpath programs for CNC machines using Mastercam, in-depth G & M code knowledge, DNC, and Macro B programming
  • Knowledge of the use of variables, macros, logic and sub programs to simplify NC code and improve processes. Properly set-up, use and maintain collision avoidance features (home positions, soft limits, interference zones) to insure machine condition is protected.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a high precision manufacturing environment
  • 3+ years’ experience operating CNC multi-axis Milling machines (specifically 5 axis)
  • Experience with high speed machining methods and techniques
  • Experience using a computer and software such as CAD/CAM software, internet navigation, email, Microsoft Office and/or other specialized computer applications.
  • Experience in setting and using precision measuring tools and equipment such as coordinate measuring machines, micrometers, calipers, and/or dial indicators.
  • Proven exceptional mechanical ability and strong mathematical skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong communication skills and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to independently learn systems and processes associated with the role

Desired Skills:
