PRODUCTION AND MAINTENANCE - PROCESS TECHNICIAN – Application Process

 

The following information is relative to Production and Maintenance employment at Corning Incorporated in the Corning Valley:

 

The Employment Process:

  • For all Production and Maintenance positions at Corning Incorporated in the Corning Valley begins once you attach your resume and submit a completed application. The next step in the process will be an orientation at a local venue to be determined.  The orientation will be followed by a series of tests and interviews conducted by Corning Incorporated employees.  Upon successful completion of all of the above, the next step will be background checks and a medical exam, to include a physical assessment and a drug test. 
  • Qualified candidates are included in a pool for process tech production positions and will be called upon as openings occur in our businesses.
  • Corning Incorporated interviews applicants for self-managed teams and we are looking for individuals that possess a strong work ethic and substantial interpersonal and team participation skills. 
  • Our new employees will go through a 90 day probationary period.  Production and Maintenance employees are represented by USW Local 1000.  No relocation assistance.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Sets up, assembles, maintains, monitors and operates equipment in various operations such as pilot production, research, development labs and department labs and shops. 
  • Work with supervisors, scientists, engineers, other technicians and/or self-directed, perform a wide variety of tasks.
  • May require working shifts, holidays and weekend assignments. 

 

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds

 

Work Conditions:

  • Work hours vary and you may be moved depending on the respective needs of the company.
  • Economic cycles may dictate a need to reduce employees. 
  • Reductions occur based on a valley-wide single seniority system.

 

Education Requirements:

  • 2 year (AAS) technical degree from an accredited institution is required.

The starting pay for this position is ​$35.35 hourly rate.  Compensation and benefits available for this position are dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
