Scope of Position:

Develops and executes a product line strategy that supports the achievement of desired product line sales growth and profitability for the Metrology Instruments Business within the Inspection & Metrology Application of AO’s Semiconductor Technologies and Solutions business.

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Leads, a cross-functional business team consisting of functional leads from Development, Division Engineering, Sales, Manufacturing, Finance (and works closely with market intelligence, marcomm, legal, IP, and HR as needed) to:
    • Manage day to day demand and supply issues, working towards optimal profitability and customer satisfaction for the product line.
    • Manage and provide guidance on finding the optimal solution (balancing the needs of Corning and the customer) to all existing and new products related to performance (i.e., specs, attributes, services), quality, share growth, customer needs (contract management).
    • Work with functional leads resolving product issues including ramp/volume needs, performance deficiencies, and overall quality and delivery performance.
    • Provide guidance on monthly forecasting and monitor performance to revenue & profitability plan.
    • Optimizes inventory management in conjunction with Supply Chain and finance related to the product line by coordinating information flow, as needed, between Forecasting, Sales, Manufacturing, and other parties as needed.
    • Leads, contributes and participates in product line and local manufacturing S&OP discussions.
    • May get involved in supply chain disruption issues to influence or make decisions on global order and Development/Manufacturing prioritization.
  • Develop the strategy and execute on the 4Ps (product, price, placement and promotion) for the Metrology Instruments business. 
  • Develop and execute the product line planning process including the product line strategy, including the identification of critical projects to be undertaken for the year. 
  • Leads the product line’s quarterly internal business review.
  • Addresses new product/special requests by developing a business canvas, including financials, to advocate for the creation of a new product family or program.
  • Works with Sales to execute a pricing strategy by setting floor pricing as needed, influencing pricing structure, updating pricelist, optimizing product premiums, and ensuring value and profitability for product line.
  • Works with sales to manage and direct global sales distribution channels to monitor voice of customer and protect share.
  • Create short and long-term forecasting plans.
  • Works to develop value propositions that improve margins for Corning’s products and services and enable new/enhanced selling opportunities with customers.
  • Create an intellectual property and standards strategy for the product line.
  • Understand downstream market requirements and assess competitive threats and implications for the business.
  • Works with Program Management or New Business Development and Sales to approve quotes and ‘receive’ new products, as appropriate.
  • Develops a compelling market value proposition that differentiates Corning’s products and services in the marketplace.
  • Manage a portfolio of markets, in the case where the product line’s products hold different positions within the markets they reach.
  • Identifies the best mix for the market(s) through effective segmentation and portfolio rationalization.
  • Works with Manufacturing and Sales to identify opportunities to reduce complexity and cost reduction in the manufacturing process both at Corning’s plant(s) and the customer site, as appropriate.
  • Manages the obsolescence process, as necessary, to extract maximum value through the end of the product’s lifecycle.

 

Required Education and Experience:

  • BS Degree, preferably in an Engineering or Technical field (Optical Engineering or Physics) (MBA or Master’s degree is a plus).
  • Minimum of 5+ years’ experience (10+ years preferred):
    • Demonstrated track record of managing projects.
    • Demonstrated track record of leading multi-functional teams.
    • Work experience in a commercial function 
    • Knowledge of marketing; business analysis and commercial operations
  • Communication, both internally and externally
  • Prioritize and effectively manage time.
  • Ability to handle high stress environment.
  • Business across various global business cultures
  • Interact effectively with internal matrix functions.

 

Desired Experience:

  • Experience with distribution-based sales channels Product line Management or market analysis or sales/AE customer facing experience in a business > $5M annual revenues.
  • Interferometry technology
  • Experience managing people.
  • Work experience in Manufacturing and/or Development
  • Financial analysis and accounting experience
  • Work experience in a strategy group
  • Experience managing customer facing software products. 

 

Travel Requirements:

  • 20-30%

The range for this position is  $148,181.00   -  $203,749.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
