Role Purpose:

Proposes and executes a product line strategy that supports the achievement of desired product line sales, share, and profitability targets.


Key Responsibilities:

Works closely with a cross-functional product team consisting of functional leads from Development, Product Engineering, Applications Engineering, Manufacturing, Marketing and/or Sales to:

  • Help develop the product or product line’s market value proposition and pricing strategy.
  • Execute the strategy that is outlined and defined by the Product Line Manager
  • Find the optimal solution (balancing the needs of Corning and the customer) to all product issues related to performance (i.e., specs, attributes, services), quality, share growth, and customer needs.
  • Collaborate and strategize with Development and Engineering teams to problem-solve gaps in product development and vet new product ideas.
  • Build short-term forecasting plans and engage with Supply Chain for execution.
  • Develop a compelling market value proposition that differentiates Corning’s products and services in the marketplace.
  • Help develop the product line strategy and manage the product line through the stages of innovation, from product concept through commercialization and life-cycle management.
  • Optimize inventory management related to the product line by coordinating information flow, as needed, between Forecasting, Sales, Manufacturing, and other parties as needed.
  • Works with Manufacturing and Sales to seek opportunities to reduce complexity and cost reduction in the manufacturing process both at Corning’s plant(s) and the customer site, as appropriate.
  • Develop reports or material for internal communication and training, such as demo SOPs, product and project status updates, and supply chain landscape.


Required Experiences/Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required – Technical subject area preferred; Applied Science, or equivalent demonstrated experience is acceptable
  • Demonstrated track record of managing various priorities and projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong business acumen.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.


Desired Skills

  • Master’s Degree a plus
  • Work experience in Manufacturing and/or Development in a global Commercial function.
  • Financial analysis and accounting experience.
  • Work experience in a Strategy group.
  • Participation in multicultural and/or multi-geographic projects.
