Position Purpose
This position is in the Sullivan Park Operations Directorate, within the Laboratory Services Management & Engineering (LSME) Department. The primary function of the department is to provide support for R&D capital projects by providing professional services in project management.
This position is responsible for support and assisting the LSME Project Management & Engineering (PM&E) group in capital construction projects from project initiation through project closeout in project administration controls, schedule coordination, project accounting controls, project design quality, construction quality control and closeout administration activities. This is a technical individual contributor position with a focus on cost management, procurement tracking, quality and documentation control, reliability, and enabling project efficiency.
A key function of this job is highly interfacing with LSME capital project manager(s) that requires knowledge and general understanding of projects objectives, consulting with project manager, external construction resources and the project stakeholders, maintaining good customer relationships, and providing the project manager with the most effective support. The expectation is that this position will proactively assist the PM plan for project life-cycle requirements and enable project delivery efficiency improvements.
Requirements
- 2+ years working an engineering environment within facility/infrastructure support or customer support in a related field; OR 3+ years of experience in a business administration role within an engineering, construction or related field
- AS / AAS in Construction Management, Business, Engineering Technology or related
- Demonstrated small-scale project leadership experience
- Ability to interpretate technical documentation (e.g. Specifications, schematics, floor plans, etc.)
- Effective written, verbal and presentation communication skills
- Proficiency with MS Office i.e. Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint and Project
Desired
- Preferred AS / AAS in Construction Management, Business, Engineering Technology or equivalent experience
- Ability to read system drawings (schematics) and provide design oversight
- Engineering/Construction familiarity
- Knowledge of infrastructure and facilities systems related to laboratory operations
- General Knowledge of facility/infrastructure equipment operation (e.g. HVAC,air handlers, exhaust fans, pumps, electrical distribution, process gas distribution etc.)
Responsibilities
Project Administration Controls
- Assist Project Manager and provide in numerous external/internal team meetings onsite and/or via Webex, setting up scheduling logistics, attendance, meeting minutes documentation of every project related meeting
- Provide support in set up project exchange repository for project team via BOX or Sharepoint
- Coordinate security access, escorting and badging for project personnel including construction personnel, specialty contractors and/or external consultant/visitors
Project Cost Control
- Coordinate with Project Manager in alignment with the project’s work breakdown structure and GSM in issuance and tracking of purchase orders to external resources through Peoplesoft
- Assist project manager in project cost accounting through regular cost reporting for project performance metrics
- Assist PM in developing the Asset Disposition Plans and the Capitalization/Depreciation schedule for purchased capital assets
Project Onsite Support
- Ensure with PM through regular site visitation construction team is adhering to safety
- Monitor compliance with construction documents and report issues to PM
- Maintain documentation and photographs of job progress

The range for this position is $69,966.00 - $96,203.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
