Scope of Position

The successful candidate would work in the Optical Physics and Systems development group of Corning Advanced Optics business.  We work in dynamic, cross-functional teams and seek an experienced scientist or engineer to lead a technology team developing materials solutions for advanced packaging. 

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional project teams in technology development; primarily in scaling between early stage to manufacturing ready
  • Project leadership activities including defining workstreams and objectives, identifying resources, financial accounting, and stakeholder engagement
  • Member of business team, coordinating strategy and activities with program, R,D,E, and business leaders
  • Primary technical team liaison to third party collaborators and suppliers
  • Own and execute strategy for product scale up facilities
  • 30-50% domestic or internation travel

Required Education and Experience

  • PhD in electrical engineering, chemistry, optics, or other science/engineering discipline with 8+ years of early-mid stage technology delivery with demonstrated success leading teams
  • Demonstrated project leadership experience with ability to achieve results through a highly matrixed project team
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical content to broad audiences and provide concise project strategies, resources needs, and status updates
  • Strong technical leadership skills that will enable unique solutions to technical challenges
  • Effectively manage highly ambiguous situations and demonstrate leadership in early-stage innovation projects
  • Must be available for significant travel to domestic or international locations to support business needs

Desired Experience

  • Experience in advanced packaging solutions
  • Working knowledge of glass properties, light-matter interactions, and etching chemistries
  • Experience in clean room and/or pilot-scale operations

 

This position supports immigration sponsorship. 

 

The range for this position is $155,994.00 - $214,493.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
