Role Purpose
The Project Leader, Coating Technology will drive product definition, technology development, and roadmap delivery for coatings within Corning's Gorilla Glass business — building the coating capabilities that keep Corning at the forefront of specialty glass innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead short- and long-term product and process development for optical coatings, translating product attributes and process parameters into performance and cost outcomes
- Identify and integrate novel technical capabilities — internal and external — to advance coating technology and deliver on business objectives
- Build product and process models; establish clear go/no-go criteria for innovation phase transitions and support technology transfer to Engineering
- Partner with Research, Development, Engineering, and Manufacturing to leverage corporate technical capabilities and advance programs from development to scale
- Manage the R&D development budget and deliver projects on time and within budget
Experiences/Education - Required
- Master's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline
- 3+ years of experience leading material and process innovation, preferably in the materials industry
- Experience with optical coating design, coating materials, and coating processes including Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD), sputtering, and Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD)
- Experience in product and process development with technical depth in thin-film coatings on optical materials, preferably glass
Experiences/Education - Desired
- PhD in Materials Science, Coating Science, or a related discipline
This position supports immigration sponsorship.
The range for this position is $132,589.00 - $182,310.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
