The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies. Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes. IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.
Role Purpose
The RD&E IT Operations and Engagement Manager is a strategic partner who will create value, connect people and ideas, and lead change.
This role is responsible for establishing and driving programs that strengthen partnerships between RD&E and IT. The manager will proactively develop a strong global network involving laboratory leaders, scientists, and technicians to identify and promote opportunities. Additionally, they will work with the global IT organization to enhance RD&E's knowledge and improve the usability of IT systems and processes. Collaboration with Corning business units will also be key to maximizing the effectiveness of scientists and engineers as they engage with these businesses.
The role will help drive cultural, technological, and digital transformation within S&T and IT to realize greater value across RD&E. This is a key role responsible for building a strong customer-focused culture that strengthens relationships and drives value to gain competitive advantage for Corning.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and develop global Business Engagement IT teams located at RDE technology centers in North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific.
- Mentor direct reports for career growth and performance.
- Engage with RD&E leaders to understand business needs for digital solutions and integrate these into the IT demand pipeline.
- Collaborate closely with Division IT Managers to implement standardized programs meeting specific business unit needs.
- Deliver innovative technology solutions that align with RD&E's tactical, strategic, and digital objectives.
- Work closely with RD&E teams to identify digital transformation opportunities that enhance scientific research capabilities.
- Drive digital transformation initiatives by leveraging data analytics, automation, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), IoT, or other emerging technologies.
- Partner with stakeholders to design and implement digital strategies that improve operational efficiency in RD&E.
- Act as a liaison between business units and IT to ensure delivery of services that support business objectives.
- Establish regular communication channels to understand customer needs for digital engagement tools.
- Ensure successful operation of daily IT engagements at RD&E sites.
- Align site operations with divisional strategies while maintaining service levels.
- Achieve or exceed budgetary goals while maintaining service quality.
Experiences/Education - Required
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- 10+ years in IT or related technical fields
- 5+ years in customer-focused roles
- 3+ years managing global teams
- Proven supervisory experience

The range for this position is $176,785.00 - $243,080.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
