Scope of Position:

Provide support for product testing and product qualifications in large datasets. Conduct experiments using cleaning, etching, glass, polymers and deposition techniques. Assembly of testing and metrology equipment. General experimental laboratory work in the boundary of optics, physical-chemistry, chemistry and mechanics.  


Day to Day Responsibilities:

Execute laboratorial work and support current projects in the areas of surface chemistry and physical-chemistry interaction with glass surfaces and other related materials. Compile data and generate gage R&R and/or product qualification data. Work with large datasets and perform basic statistical analysis and graphing. Perform troubleshooting, basic repair and inspection on multiple equipment. Be responsible for material and data flow in and out of the Labs.  


Travel Requirements:

10% Occasional travel, mostly domestic but some overseas travel expected upon demand.  


Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:

5 days, 40 hour work week  


Education and Experience:

B.Sc. in Sciences, Biology, Chemistry , Physics, Engineering or Materials Science or equivalent 2 years of industry experience or more.  


Required Skills: 

  • Ability to design, build and test novel experiments from ground up.
  • Basic understanding of Glass and/or Polymer physical-chemistry and surface science.
  • Familiarity with statistical data analysis and working with large data-sets.
  • Basic understanding of optical materials with strong preference towards glasses.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (word, excel, power point).
  • Ability to document well and write test reports independently.  


Desired Skills: 

  • Basic knowledge of statistical software such as Minitab or JMP.
  • Programming, preferably C, C# and/or Matlab.
  • Labview automation skills.  
  • Knowledge of optical measurements and systems.

  • Comfortable with ambiguity and multitasking among multiple projects
  • Able to work in multidisciplinary projects
  • Able to work with international teams
  • Clear, concise oral and written communication
