Scope of Position:

Corning’s Corporate and Executive Communications team specializes in various areas of focus, including strategic narrative development, and CEO & CFO executive communications, media relations, and corporate reputation management. The team focuses on the company’s proactive and reactive reputation management strategies and works cross-functionally with Corporate and Marketing Communications colleagues to drive timely, consistent, and transparent narratives is defense and protection of Corning’s corporate reputation. Together, we work closely with Government Affairs, HR, and MAP leaders to ensure alignment and close collaboration on strategic reputational priorities and proactive opportunities.

 

In this role, you will support the Reputation Management and Media Relations leader and broader Corporate and Executive Communications team on communications efforts related to corporate reputation issues and shaping and sharing our company narrative with key audiences. You will work closely with internal teams to develop and execute communications strategies, support the response to reputational issues, crises, and broader reactive communications efforts, and help to ensure cross-organizational alignment with key internal and external narratives at the corporate and business levels.

 

Corning’s Corporate and Executive Communications team is looking for a talented and detail-oriented individual pursuing a degree in communications, marketing, or related field of study to join the organization in support of corporate reputation management and media relations priorities for the summer of 2026. 

 

The Reputation Management Communications Intern will have the opportunity to:

  1. Support the alignment of messages with corporate narratives and priorities, organizational goals, and Corning’s Values.
  2. Partner with business communications colleagues to ensure cohesive, seamless view of reputational risks and advancement opportunities from various areas of the company.
  3. Develop internal and external communications materials related to new or ongoing issues management topics.
  4. Conduct strategic research on Corning’s corporate reputation via peer benchmarks and provide actionable recommendations. 
  5. Track key topics related to Corning through social and traditional media outlets and provide insights on optimizing various processes to enhance communications agility and after-action efficiency.

Requirements:

  • The candidate is required to be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, advertising (or similar field) in their junior or senior year, currently enrolled in, or nearing completion of a master’s program in similar fields.
  • High level of judgement and understanding of media/PR strategies and tactics 
  • Proactive approach and ability to navigate multi-stakeholder business environment 
  • Ability to work comfortably across all levels of an organization, including with c-suite leadership 
  • Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing project requirements 
  • Ability to handle many tasks, assess priorities, and meet deadlines 
  • Ability to work as part of a collaborative team as well as competency to work independently and lead agreed upon action plans with minimal supervision

​The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00 biweekly.  Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
