Scope of Position:

  • Hands-on, experimental role working with scientists to develop new materials and processes for climate change solutions

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Work with scientists and project teams to define activities, develop hypotheses, and conduct experiments
  • Process, compile, and analyze data
  • Document work, draw conclusions and communicate results
  • Complete routine testing with little to no instruction needed
  • Conduct new assignments with on-the-job training
  • Complete routine maintenance of testing equipment and monitor quality of data
  • Conduct lab safety and 5S inspections
  • Maintain safe and clean work environment

 

Required Skills:

  • The ability to work in an independent manner under the guidance and direction of a scientist.
  • Daily work will be lab-based and requires the employee to be hands on and comfortable with new experimentation.
  • Familiarity with operating furnaces is preferable, and the ability to learn how to use various types of equipment is a must.
  • This position requires the ability to adapt to changes in priorities and focus areas as projects evolve.
  • All objectives and deliverables for the role will be established with the supervisor.
  • Writing technical reports, presenting experimental work at project team meetings, and contributing to intellectual property is expected.

 

Desired Skills:

Mechanical and electrical aptitude

 

Education and Experience:  B.S. in Geology, Chemistry, Material Science, Physics or related field is required

 

Soft Skills: strong organizational and collaborative skills, being a team player and flexible, the ability to interact with multiple levels in the organization with open communication (such as Process Techs, Technicians, Scientists, and Management), and being comfortable with ambiguity, multitasking among projects, and a strong desire to learn and contribute.

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:  40+, flex-time
