Job Description

We are seeking a motivated professional for an SEC Reporting Manager position on our external reporting team which is responsible for the integrity and accuracy of Corning’s SEC filings.  The SEC Reporting Manager will play a key role in the planning, coordination, oversight, drafting, review, compliance and technical delivery of the SEC filings.  Additional responsibilities may include assisting the Technical Accounting Services group in the review and analysis of complex accounting transactions and assisting with other projects, as necessary.  This is an excellent opportunity to expand subject matter expertise, grow management and leadership skills in a public company environment and gain a solid understanding of Corning’s businesses and global operations with future opportunities to advance and grow within the Company.

 

This position resides in Corning NY however, may work from our Charlette NC office with visits to our Corning NY headquarters during quarter closings.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the management and coordination of the quarterly and annual financial reporting process and contribute to the preparation and review of SEC filings including the drafting and ownership of certain notes and MD&A disclosures.
  • Evaluate the Company’s press releases, investor presentations, earning scripts and other publicly shared financial information for completeness, accuracy and consistency.
  • Monitor, assess and communicate changes in accounting and disclosure regulations or industry practice which may impact Corning, escalating potential issues along with possible solutions.
  • Responsible for accounting and subject matter expert in:
    • equity based compensation
    • executive and non-executive cash-based compensation
    • dividend accruals
    • WASO and EPS
    • segment reporting
  • Coordinate with auditors on accounting and disclosure matters affecting external reporting.
  • Maintain the Risk and Control Matrix (RCM) and coordinate control activities for the areas of accounting and reporting responsibilities, ensuring effective disclosure controls.
  • Collaborate with the Technical Accounting Services group in the review and analysis of complex accounting transactions for presentation and disclosure in Corning’s filings.
  • Be a trusted partner building strong cross-functional relationships to support Company initiatives.

 

This role will report to the Finance Director, External Reporting and interacts regularly with Shared Services, financial planning & analysis, treasury, external/internal auditors, legal, investor relations and corporate communications with exposure to the Corporate Controller.

 

Qualifications & Competencies

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • Certified Public Accountant
  • Minimum of 5-7 years relevant work experience, including Big 4 public accounting experience and SEC reporting experience with a large, accelerated filer
  • Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and strategic thinking skills with a forward-looking focus
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to thrive in a team environment
