Scope Of the Role:

The Sustainable Product Technology and Design Leader is responsible for defining and embedding end-to-end sustainability strategy across the Gorilla Glass product portfolio, with particular emphasis on integrating Design for Sustainability (DfS) into new products (e.g. glass, glass ceramics, surface treatments) and next-generation platforms such as 3D-formed glass (Forge) and augmented reality glass systems (Cascade). This role serves as the central leader of sustainability across product development, supply chain, and customer engagement, ensuring that sustainability is not an afterthought—but a core design input that drives product differentiation, customer value, and regulatory readiness.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead Gorilla Glass sustainability strategy, governance, and execution by aligning corporate goals with product roadmaps, customer commitments, regulatory requirements, and cross-functional teams across Product, Engineering, Commercial, Manufacturing, Operations, and Supply Chain.

• Embed Sustainability by Design into product development by integrating DfS/Ecodesign frameworks, lifecycle-based criteria, scorecards, metrics, and cost-benefit analysis into development programs, while influencing early-stage design, material selection, and technology decisions for emerging platforms like Forge and AR.

• Drive sustainable product innovation, carbon footprint modeling, LCA, and data systems by evaluating trade-offs between performance, manufacturability, cost, and environmental impact, while ensuring audit-ready processes and third-party verification.

• Define and execute circularity and recycled materials strategies, including recycled content expansion, raw material trials, collection and reverse logistics systems, and business cases that balance cost, supply constraints, and customer demand.

• Serve as the key sustainability interface for customers and commercial teams, translating sustainability capabilities into market differentiation, ensuring compliance with customer expectations, and enabling revenue through lower-carbon, durable, and more circular products.

• Lead global cross-functional collaboration and deliver measurable results through sustainability integration in next-generation platforms, increased carbon footprint coverage, expanded recycled content, achievement of customer commitments, and stronger sustainability-driven product value.

Experiences/Education – Required:

• Deep understanding of materials science, glass technology, or advanced materials manufacturing
• BA Degree- (Masters Preferred) Technical areas- Engineering or related field
• Years of experience in Product Design required: 10 plus year+
• Demonstrated experience in LCA, carbon accounting, or sustainability strategy
• Strong cross-functional leadership and stakeholder management
• Ability to translate sustainability into technical requirements and commercial value
• Experience working with global customers and regulatory environments

Travel and Hours:

• Up to 25% domestic and internationally (Customer meetings, conferences)
• Standard business hours; Monday – Friday.

The range for this position is $169,173.00 - $232,613.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
