Scope of Position
The Organic Materials Directorate of Corning Research & Development Corporate focuses on solving problems across all Corning businesses by leveraging its expertise on organic and polymer synthesis with Advanced Flow Reactor technology, as well as the design and optimization of formulations for glass coatings, inks, and adhesives. The individual in this role will support projects in these areas by conducting experiments and documenting/analyzing results. The position requires the ability to work independently under the guidance and direction of the supervisor or project manager. The successful candidate is expected to have good interpersonal skills for effective cross-group and cross-functional collaborations.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Promote and maintain a safe working environment
- Work with the supervisor and leading scientists to plan and carry out required experiments to advance progress against project objectives
- Design experiment workflow, communicate observations, perform related measurements, collect & summarize data
- Preparation of testing specimens, routine operation of standardized testing
- Maintenance and basic troubleshooting of equipment
- Develop and update experiment and operational SOPs and related documents (JSAs, etc.)
- Assist in the organization and management of lab inventory
Requirements
- BS in chemistry, chemical engineering or material science or related field
- Hands-on technical aptitude
- Highly organized and good attention to detail, rigorous execution, and data accuracy
- Good knowledge of organic/polymer chemistry
- Ability to work safely with organic chemicals
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Desired Experience/ Skills
- 2+ years of industrial or laboratory experience
- Experience working with organic or polymer synthesis
- Good at multi-tasking – working on several deliverables at the same time

The range for this position is $71,274.00 - $98,002.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
