Scope of Position:
In this position, Commercial Data Scientist will perform a variety of key processes supporting the data flows associated with global sales forecasting and demand management activities. The Commercial Data Scientist will implement existing procedures and be responsible for proposing data flow process improvement solutions.  The Data Scientist will be responsible for overall data consolidation ensuring accuracy and consistency within all functional models for Short Term Forecast (STF) and Demand Management (DM).

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • STF/DM Database/Kairos Maintenance: Business changes, coding intelligence, data consistency
  • Support all key STF and DM objectives/deadlines: Primarily focusing on data collection, consolidation, analysis, and accuracy
  • Responsible for all STF and DM data population and reporting/publishing requirements: Primarily accuracy and consistency across all reporting tools
  • Acts as a role model and mentor for other DM/STF analysts for solutions and technical expertise
  • Supports ad hoc analysis for all STF and DM business requirements

Projects:

  • Proposing and implementing data flow process improvements associated with the global fiber forecast and demand management information.

Travel Requirements: Limited Travel

Experience: Min. 3+ years of experience as a Data Scientist in a Business or Commercial function


Education Preferred: Master’s degree in data science


Required Skills:

  • Advanced knowledge and experience with data science options and business intelligence tools
    • PowerBI, BI tools, Excel, SQL, Databricks, Kairos
  • Advanced knowledge of programming languages (Python)
  • Proven ability to manage and propose complex data solutions for large data sets
  • Strong analytical mindset, detail oriented, organized, and focused
  • Good interpersonal skills: Ability to interact effectively with several functional areas and international cultures
  • Demonstrated mentoring skills in a business setting


Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge of optical fiber manufacturing, and products
  • Commercial experience within the telecommunications industry
  • Certified MS Analyst
  • Background as a business analyst or finance role


Soft Skills:

  • Strong communication skills:  Comfortable collaborating in a diverse environment with multiple regions and functions.
  • Self-starter and Team Player: Ability to take the initiative to ensure functional objectives are met and recommend process opportunities once identified.
  • Organized and Detail oriented:  Focused attention on maintaining accuracy and consistency with large sets of information
  • Resilient under pressure:  Ability to maintain composure and focus amongst business deadlines

The range for this position is $77,234.00 - $106,197.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
