Role Purpose:

Provide leadership, expertise, and practical support for the Corning Site operation.  Responsible to work closely with corporate functional leadership and Site team to drive improvements across all environmental, health, and safety (EHS) issues. A significant emphasis will be hands-on support to help site accomplish the work.  This role will also provide education, culture change, and help the site leadership form a strategic plan for sustainable improvement in EHS. This role requires working within complex manufacturing structure at a plant level.  The work is multi-dimensional in the areas of regional, legal and corporate regulations and compliance.  It involves influencing sustainable change in cultural and technical aspects of manufacturing at all levels of the organization.  This role must adeptly work within a matrixed organization structure with plant operations, engineering and technology resources team as well as the Corporate EHS teams driving solutions to yield results in all EHS Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).


Key Responsibilities:
•    Report to the Site Leader on all aspects of EHS Management systems, process performance and improvements.
•    Develop compliance, risk and governance operational and strategic roadmaps with the site team’s leadership.
•    Develop, coordinate and deliver risk awareness campaigns and compliance training programs.
•    Manage compliance and risk management data, reporting and metrics for site, including, but not limited to, injury and illness data, compliance gap analysis, and training completion data.
•    Establish and lead processes for the development and implementation of strategic objectives to identify, control, and manage EHS risks. 
•    Provide coaching, training, instruction and guidance for facility personnel with responsibilities for EHS Management system elements.
•    Provide EHS training for leadership and personnel affected by site-specific hazards and compliance obligations.
•    Take lead responsibility for the day-to-day tactical and strategic efforts necessary to deliver performance improvements for sites EHS performance.
•    Be the in-house Subject Matter Expert on the full range of governance and compliance requirements and administers company EHS Management system requirements for the Site operation.  
•    Provide hands-on support as necessary to implement and inculcate the entire site team with Corning EHS Management Services, governance and compliance Standards and processes, including keeping them up to date as legislation or Corning operational context changes. 
•    Provides direction to employees according to established policies, management guidance, and Corning EHS Management Systems. 
•    Oversee and drive internal and external compliance audits and follow-up activities.
•    Actively engages with all Operational changes to assess EHS impacts of changes and communicates requirements to appropriate project teams.
•    Interact with federal, state, and local regulators to resolve compliance issues.
•    Analyzes processes and data and develops proactive prevention systems for anticipating and responding to events. Provides continued development on EHS issues. 
•    Monitors daily operations of site and actively assists or provides direction to achieve EHS performance improvements. 
•    Provides expertise, advice, information and tools relating to effective EHS management. 
•    Ensures that projects and Corporate EHS initiatives are completed on schedule and according to established procedures.
•    Perform other related duties as assigned.


Key Skills and Experience Required
Candidates must have 7-10 yrs. experience in these areas:
•    Strong organizational and time management skills are essential.
•    Excellent written and communication skills; both global organization and executive presentation skills.
•    Accustomed to working in a fast paced, collaborative, and matrixed environment.
•    Excellent IT skills with the ability to build proficiency with business-specific software.
•    Strong mastery of Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
•    A strong interest in EHS requirements and EHS career path.
•    Detail-oriented, concise and strong sense of urgency.
•    Ability to prioritize workloads, work in high pressure situations, and work to strict deadlines. 
•    Demonstrated track record of leading change at sites to improve their safety performance. 
•    Experience setting and managing department objectives.
•    Strong leadership capability. 
•    Able to interact and influence at all levels.
•    Able to analyze data and create action plans with solid results.
•    Experience managing and leading projects.
•    Experience interacting and negotiating with regulatory and industry bodies. 
•    Strong working knowledge of EPA, OSHA, and Risk Assessment legislation.
•    Experience at managing compliance data and generating internal reports and action plans, papers and providing information to internal and external customers. 
•    Experience in managing audits and inspections. 
•    Experience in identifying compliance issues and developing practical corrective actions. 
•    Demonstrated manufacturing experience.
•    <10% travel for conferences, training, etc.


Education requirements

•    Minimum BA (MS preferred) – Science, Safety, Environmental or related degree or Industrial Engineering considered with demonstrated manufacturing experience in Safety Engineering.
•    CSP and/or PE preferred
