Scope of Position (i.e. projects involved with and role within group):

• Candidate will be responsible for scientific studies and leadership of projects within Glass Research that are critical for business support or fundamental understanding of key technical challenges

• Candidate will be expected to understand the interplay between the project and business objectives and plan work accordingly to achieve the desired delivery timeline

• Technical fields covered by the current role include, but are not limited to, glass relaxation phenomena, defect generation in display glasses, the impact of glass composition on dielectric properties, frit composition design, and network dilation in Gorilla glasses.

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

• Devise, plan, and execute experiments pertaining to the assigned projects

• Perform data analysis, and determine changes that need to be made to achieve desired project objectives

• Leverage SME’s as well as the broader S&T community to ensure success of the project work candidate is responsible for executing

• Routine communication to project steering team/ business stakeholders regarding project progress Travel Requirements (please note if international): minimal

 

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time: 40+, flex-time

 

Required Skills (These are skills that candidates MUST possess)

1. Fundamental understanding of how glass processing affects glass properties

2. Previous experience managing technical projects

3. Knowledge of how the technical project objectives impact business objectives

 

Desired Skills (These are skills that would be nice for candidates to possess)

1. Knowledge and experience with the fusion draw process

2. Knowledge and experience in glass chemistry/ glass composition

3. Experience participating in research melter trials

 

Education and Experience (minimum required for consideration)

1. 4 year technical/ engineering degree and 10+ years of experience supporting technical initiatives Or

2. PhD in engineering or related technical field

1. Excellent communication& interpersonal skills

2. Organized, planner with the ability to prioritize

3. Motivated, self-starter with the ability to handle daily multitasking

4. Creativity & willingness to jump in to try or create new experimental methods
