Scope of Position (i.e. projects involved with and role within group): If you can bring concept to reality by understanding and defining the requirements, followed by system design, specification, fabrication, test, installation and startup of complete integrated process control systems, this position may be your next career move. Ensures the conversion of customer requirements into total systems solutions that meet all requirements including schedule and cost. Readily implements solutions to moderate and complex problems. Exercises discernment within defined procedures and practices to resolve appropriate action.

 

Day to Day Responsibilities: You will work on individual projects or participate on team projects and establish project requirements that will develop the project scope. You will design and develop complete control systems for process equipment and measurement systems. Bring the experience needed to specify and configure controls platforms: PLC’s. Develop custom controls software in Rockwell Automation’s Studio 5000 or high-level languages like C# and .NET. Develop HMI software. Work with drawings and schematics. Oversee fabrication and installation of electrical and controls panels and interface to process equipment. Perform configuration, calibration and check out of equipment and debug software. Work through problems, repair and restore existing control systems.

 

Travel Requirements: Minimal. Typically only for training, conferences and working with vendors.

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time: Typically 40 hours per week M-F, but can require more (project dependent).

 

Education and Experience: B.S. or M.S. Electrical Engineering At least 7 years of experience in controls/automation engineering

 

Required Skills:

1. Possesses good Project management skills

2. Have a strong inclination toward machine/process control

3. Experience with PLCs, preferably Allen Bradley’s Logix Family of PACs

4. Ability to program in RSLogix 5000 / Studio 5000

5. Experience developing HMIs (FactoryTalk View / PanelView)

6. Experience solving problems electrical circuits and instrumentation and thorough knowledge of AC and DC circuits

7. Experience with SCR Power control

8. Experience with motion control programming

9. Understanding of classical control theory, PID

10. Proficient with schematics

 

Desired Skills:

1. Experience programming in C, C#.

2. Experience with EtherNet/IP and OPC

3. Experience developing project scopes and managing projects

4. Experience in power distribution

5. Experience with Mitsubishi or Siemens PLC’s

6. Experience with directing and coordinating trades
