Scope of Position:
Power industry professional with direct experience in Industrial power systems applications and process power equipment design. Will report directly to the manager of the Electrical Power Engineering group. The focus of the position will be on process electrical power system and equipment design, analysis, and commissioning.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
- Scoping and execution of power engineering projects to Corning’s divisions and plants, both for new construction and existing facilities
- Design, specify, review, analyze, and/or commission process electrical systems and equipment
- Specify, review, analyze, and/or commission facility electrical systems and equipment
- Perform and/or review power system studies, load flow/short circuit analysis and relay coordination studies for Corning’s facility-utility interconnection and internal power distribution systems
- Conduct failure analysis of power system equipment
- Oversee equipment installation, commissioning and/or decommissioning of electrical systems and equipment.
- Interface with Corning Program Managers, equipment suppliers, facility managers, and other project stakeholders
- Report directly to group manager, and interface with group director and customer organization management
Required Skills & Experience:
- 10+ years of relevant experience in the power field, 5+ years managing capital projects
- Knowledge of electrical power system and power control design and analysis, including solid-state components
- Experience conducting short circuit current ratings (SCCR) for industrial control cabinets and/or industrial machines
- Experience designing, building, and analyzing industrial control panels or industrial machinery
- Knowledge of medium-voltage and low-voltage power systems
- Experience conducting short circuit current calculations, protection and coordination studies, Arc Flash analyses, and system reliability calculations
- Knowledge of safety control circuits: design, verification, and validation
- Experience with power quality measurements, analysis, and corrective actions
- Expert knowledge of National Electric Code (NFPA 70)
- Expert knowledge on the topic of electrical safety and electrical safety management
- Experience guiding, mentoring, or coaching engineering or scientific employees
Desired Skills:
- Knowledge of power system reliability calculations in combination with system automation, maintenance programs and operations
- Proficiency in failure analysis of electrical equipment
- Knowledge of national and international standards and equipment (NFPA 70B, NFPA 79, IEC 60204-1, GB 5226.1, IEEE 493, and similar)
- Proficiency with EasyPower, SKM, or ETAP software
- Proficiency with MS Office applications
- Proficiency with SISTEMA software
- Ability to multitask between projects and other activities, address and operate within ambiguous situations and conflicting objectives and constraints
- Project Management Skills (scoping, budgeting, leadership, implementing)
- Capable of managing workload of junior engineers, contractors
Education / Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required
- Master’s degree preferred
- P.E., or willing to obtain licensure within 5 years

The range for this position is $98,424.00 - $135,333.00. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
