Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Purpose
Develop and resolve solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply a thorough understanding and application of standard engineering and manufacturing theories, concepts, principles, and techniques to the design, scale-up, and optimization of processes for manufacturing
- Participate in investigating & identifying Hazard Operations (HAZOPs) and perform Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) to ensure process safety and compliance
- Conduct hands-on experimentation in laboratories, pilot, and manufacturing environments to validate process concepts and drive innovation
- Document technical work and contribute to intellectual property development as appropriate
- Communicate updates and technical findings through written reports, presentations, and verbal briefings to stakeholders and management
- Measure and report performance and progress against established technical and project objectives
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and maintain stakeholder engagement to identify and resolve technical challenges
- Apply basic statistical techniques to enhance understanding and control of chemical processing phenomena
- Use structured problem-solving methodologies to facilitate root cause understanding and resolution of chemical and manufacturing process upsets
- Contribute to the completion of milestones associated with specific projects
Required Education
- MS/PhD in Chemical Engineering
- College graduate in chemical, materials or applied science A minimum of 2 to 3 years of relevant experience will be a plus
- Fundamental understanding of chemical processes and engineering principles
- Familiar with using structured problem-solving methods and experimental design
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team collaboration skills
- Ability to work in a mute-faceted diverse team environment including international staff in designing, developing, and testing technical solutions based on business requirements
Desired Experiences
- Familiarity with using chemical engineering simulation tools (e.g., ChemCAD, ProSim Plus, ChemSep, Aspen Plus/Hysis, COMSOL, MATLAB, etc.) for modeling, simulation, and optimization of development & manufacturing operations
- Familiar with HAZOPs & PHAs to ensure safe process design and operations
- Familiar with design of experiments and interpretation of data using statistical tools and methods (e.g., DOE, Excel Sigma Zone, SAS-JMP, Origin, Minitab etc.)

The range for this position is $80,486.00 - $110,669.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
