Scope of Position

An excellent opportunity to develop in one of Corning Incorporated's key technology organizations supporting the deployment of new, innovative, and challenging technologies.  Member of Materials Forming Equipment Engineering team responsible for the detailed design, construction, and running of Forming Process Equipment. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize mechanical engineering and equipment design expertise to deliver fully integrated, first/next generation process equipment systems from early stages of innovation through to manufacturing.
  • Analyze and interpret data to optimize process and equipment performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution.
  • Develop and implement innovative solutions to improve equipment reliability and efficiency.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Prioritize safety of all personnel in Corning facilities in alignment with safety and environmental policies

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in mechanical design or equipment engineering.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in fast-paced and ambiguous environments.
  • Demonstrated expertise in mechanical/equipment engineering, with broad knowledge of materials, fabrication methods (machining, forming, molding etc.) assembly and joining methods, GD&T, tolerance stack ups/error budgets.
  • Experience with 3D CAD modeling (SolidWorks preferred) and simulation modules to optimize designs and/or demonstrate feasibility (finite element, computational fluid dynamics etc.)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%, including some international travel. 

Desired Experience

  • Proficient with SolidWorks including use of a PDM vault
  • Experience with hot glass or ceramic equipment.
  • Data collection and analysis experience.
  • Project management experience with the ability to achieve results through matrixed project teams.
  • Advanced Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

The range for this position is $80,710.00 - $110,976.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
