Scope of Position
We are seeking a highly-motivated and innovative Ceramic Process Scientist to join the material conversion team. This individual will play a key role in in developing, optimizing, and scaling up ceramic processes to ensure the production of high-quality ceramic components. This position is critical to advancing our manufacturing capabilities and supporting the development of innovative ceramic products for industries such as automotive, aerospace, electronics and energy.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize firing processes to achieve desired ceramic material properties, including strength, density, porosity, phase composition, and microstructure.
- Correlate processing parameters with material properties and performance and collaborate with modeling to achieve process improvements.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in ceramic materials, processing technologies, and manufacturing equipment.
- Document processes, experiments, and findings in technical reports; present results and recommendations to stakeholders and leadership teams.
- Identify and develop innovative processes for the production of advanced ceramic materials, processes and applications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to transfer newly developed processes and technical knowledge to development and engineering organizations.
Experiences/Education - Required
- Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering, Ceramic Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong background in ceramic materials and manufacturing processes is essential.
- 3+ years of experience in ceramic processing, manufacturing, or R&D.
- Deep understanding of ceramic material behavior during firing, including sintering, densification, and grain growth.
- Proficiency in material characterization techniques, such as SEM, XRD, TGA/DSC, dilatometry, and mechanical testing.
- Proven ability to translate research findings into practical, scalable manufacturing solutions.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing technical challenges.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to support knowledge transfer across teams.
Experiences/Education - Desired
- Experience of garnet materials and non-equilibrium materials and their synthesis.
- Experience of single crystal growth.
- Experience with computational tools for process simulation and modeling.
This position supports immigration sponsorship.
The range for this position is $79,003.00 - $108,630.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
