Role Purpose

The candidate will utilize AI and machine learning tools to development relationships between glass structure and physical properties.  The candidate will utilize existing data and plan experiments to study novel glass composition spaces and continuously strengthen predictive models.  The work with support mechanically advantaged glasses, glasses with extreme optical properties, and ionically conductive glasses. 

Key Responsibilities

The candidate will curate existing data to enhance modeling capabilities using AI and machine learning tools.  This will require working with a glass composition modeling team.  The candidate will also work with experimental scientists to assist in new materials discovery.  The candidate is expected to document proprietary work in the form of internal reports and invention disclosures.  The candidate is also expected to remain well informed of newly developed modeling approaches.  External publication and presentations are also expected of high performing scientists in the Inorganic Materials team.

Experiences/Education - Required

  • PhD is Materials Science, Civil Engineering with a materials focus, Inorganic Chemistry, or related field.

  • Strong ability in use of AI and machine learning modeling tools.

  • Strong ability to collaborate in cross-functional teams.

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • Strong background in both glass and ceramic science.

 

This position supports immigration sponsorship.

 

The range for this position is $81,989.00 - $112,735.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
