Role Purpose
Corning Advanced-Flow Reactor™ (AFR) is a global leader in end-to-end flow chemical processing for pharma, fine chemicals, agrochemicals, specialty chemicals, and high-performance materials industries. AFR technology is changing the way chemicals are produced, enabling more efficient and safer processing.
AFR is looking for an application engineer for the North American market. Technical contact between the customer and Corning, the Application Engineer actively participates in the chemical process development, collaborates with the team defining the equipment and process and ensures a smooth implementation of the process at the customer.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand current and prospective customers chemistry and products, value proposition and needs. Align their needs with Corning technical capabilities.
- Engage with Corning scientist and engineers to demonstrate feasibility of the key chemical steps, and actively participate in experiments.
- Sales support (technical visit on customer site, product presentation, technical offer, attending trade shows as visitor or exhibitor, writing and contribution to scientific research papers).
- FAT/SAT, Installation / education & training / commissioning & starting the reactors, dosing lines and downstream operations.
- Support of the customer on paperwork and procedures: Help designing of IQ/OQ plan & development of FAT/SAT.
- Support debugging and ramping manufacturing to expected performance. Collect customer feedback and fix issues.
- Connection between the customer requirements and the different internal specialists (Engineering department, R&D, sales, sales support, quality) to ensure a seamless coordination
- Share the information gathered from the customer/on-site to the relevant teams, including insights for AFR product and offering roadmap.
- Contribution to the elaboration of operating procedure manual for the equipment.
- Developing and writing Application notes to support customers.
Experiences/Education - Required
- Bachelor's degree in inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry or related discipline
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in chemical synthesis with a strong experimental background
- Provien experience in safety planning including safety assessments and creating safety plans
- Experience with a variety of chemical analytical methods
- Skilled in structured experiment planning and execution
- Being able to work autonomously and proactively at customer sites
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making, rigorous and well-organized
- Strong interpersonal and networking skills in a multicultural environment
- Hands on technical problem-solving skills
- Flexibility/adaptability to unexpected situations/ behavior/ working subject
- Resilient and copes well with stressful situations
- Leadership and negotiation skills
- Travel Requirements: Up to 75%
Experiences/Education - Desired
- Experience with hazardous chemical handling
- Specialization in inorganic chemistry
- Experience with transferring a chemical process from lab to pilot or manufacturing
- Industrial experience
- Experience in flow-chemistry/continuous process and equipment
- Experience in quality processes

The range for this position is $104,733.00 - $144,008.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
