Role Purpose
We are seeking highly skilled and motivated a Chemical Engineer to join our team in Corning, NY.
This role will contribute to the development, scale-up, and optimization of chemical processes and technologies across various business sectors, driving innovation and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply chemical and fundamental engineering principles to design, scale-up, and optimize manufacturing processes
- Lead and participate in investigating & identifying Hazardous Operations (HAZOP) and Process Hazard Analyses (PHA) to ensure process safety and regulatory compliance
- Conduct hands-on experimentation in laboratories, pilot platforms, and manufacturing environments to validate process concepts and enable technology transfer
- Document technical work thoroughly and contribute to intellectual property (IP) development as appropriate
- Communicate technical findings through reports, presentations, and verbal briefings to stakeholders and management
- Measure and report performance against established technical and project objectives
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and maintain stakeholder engagement to identify and resolve technical challenges
- Applying basic statistical techniques to enhance understanding and control of chemical processing phenomena
- Use structured problem-solving methodologies to facilitate root cause understanding and resolution of chemical and manufacturing process upsets
- Support sustainability initiatives by optimizing resource utilization and minimizing environmental impact
Required Education
- MS or PhD in Chemical Engineering
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in chemical engineering or allied fields involving research and development, process scale-up, or manufacturing
- Proven ability to work independently and execute objectives with minimal oversight
- Experience in or familiar with process safety, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance
- Fundamental understanding of chemical engineering processes and engineering principles
- Familiar with using structured problem-solving methods and experimental design
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills for working in diverse, global teams
- Ability to work in a multi-faceted diverse team environment including international staff in designing, developing, and testing technical solutions based on business requirements
- Familiarity with process safety standards (e.g., OSHA, EPA, NFPA)
- Competence in data analysis and interpretation using statistical tools
Desired Experiences
- Familiarity with using chemical engineering process simulation and modeling tools (e.g., ChemCAD, Aspen Plus/Aspen HYSYS, COMSOL, MATLAB, etc)
- Familiar with Design of Experiments (DOE) and advanced statistical analysis (e.g., DOE, Excel Sigma Zone, SAS-JMP, Origin, Minitab etc.)
- Familiar with scale-up from lab to pilot to manufacturing, including troubleshooting and optimization
- Familiar with intellectual property development and patent processes
- Familiar with sustainability practices and green engineering principles
- Ability to lead cross-functional technical teams and mentor junior engineers

The range for this position is $94,200.00 - $129,525.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
