Staff Engineer - Reliability

Corning Research & Development Corporation seeks Staff Engineer – Reliability to work in Painted Post, NY.

Conduct mechanical testing of mechanically advantaged thin glass to characterize strength distributions; lead workstreams to understand & quantify stresses; develop novel techniques to test thin glasses using strength & stress principles; identify & correct failure modes to improve product reliability; analyze data & make recommendations to improve product & process reliability; utilize modeling tools to build models, experimentally validate & extend to predict performance; & perform data analysis at the raw data/root level.

Requires: Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, materials engineering, or closely related. Prior exp. w/ or academic exposure to: applying mechanical engineering principles to solve materials science problems; designing & running statistical based experiments; & identifying root causes of materials failures.
