Scope of Position
The candidate is responsible for advancing fundamental understanding of ink materials, printing technologies and color science in Automotive Glass Solutions business within Corning. As a subject matter expert and technical leader, the candidate will have opportunities to lead development initiatives, colloborate with multidisciplinary and cross-functional global team, and drive technological advancements to support current and future programs in the business.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Design and execute experiments in laboratories focusing on advancing ink formulations, color science and decoration processes
- Define, demonstrate and develop new decoration products and processes for automotive applications
- Document critical results via technical report and invention disclosures
Required Education and Experience
- Ph.D. or M.S. in Chemistry, Material Science, Optical Science, or related field is required. B.S. degree with relevant experience and strong track record will also be considered
- 5+ years of experience in organic inks, color science, and printing technologies
- In-depth experience in organic ink formulations, surface science, colorimetry, and decoration processes
- Hands on experience in colorimetry including color models (CMYK, Pantone, etc.) and correlation with reflected and transmitted optics
- Experience in applications of inks, color science for decorative surfaces
- Mechanistic understanding of screen print, inkjet, and other printing technologies
- Knowledge of materials characterization techniques
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
- Technical writing and oral presentation skills
- Travel requirements: Up to maximum of 10% both domestic and international
Desired Experience
- Familiarity with glass materials and optics for automotive interior and exterior applications
- Knowledge of statistical tools
- Familiarity with automotive industry including standards and latest trends

The range for this position is $95,759.00 - $131,669.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
