Scope of Position
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Formulation Scientist to join our innovative Science and Technology research team at Corning. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented scientist with a strong foundation in formulation science to contribute to the development of advanced materials and processes for inks, adhesives, and coatings.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, synthesize, and characterize organic formulations for inks, adhesives, and coatings.
- Optimize polymer formulations to meet specific application requirements.
- Develop and evaluate new functional materials, leveraging a strong understanding of polymer chemistry and structure-property relationships.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of experimental results and propose data-driven solutions.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary scientific and engineering teams to integrate formulations into innovative products.
- Create and maintain detailed documentation of experiments, observations, and findings.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and contribute to the development of innovative approaches.
Experiences/Education - Required
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Materials Science, Polymer Science, Adhesion Science, or a related field.
- 2–5+ years of industrial experience in polymer formulation, development, or research.
- Expertise in polymer chemistry, including thermoplastics, thermosets, elastomers, and composite materials.
- Hands-on experience in developing and characterizing formulations for inks, adhesives, and/or coatings.
- Strong experimental design and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and solve complex problems.
- Knowledge of formulation additives (e.g., plasticizers, fillers, stabilizers) and their impact on performance.
- Excellent communication skills to present findings to multidisciplinary teams.
- High level of precision and attention to detail in both laboratory work and data analysis.
- Travel Requirements: minimal (<10%) with occasional domestic or international travel as needed.
Experiences/Education - Desired
- Proficiency with data analysis and modeling software such as JMP, Minitab, or similar tools.
- Experience mentoring junior team members or leading small-scale projects.
- Familiarity with intellectual property processes, including patent writing.
- Project management experience, with the ability to balance multiple priorities effectively.

The range for this position is $101,586.00 - $139,681.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
